>WHAT IS TechFutures?
TechFutures is a two-year program where students learn advanced computer skills to produce websites, database applications, and manage computer networks.
>WHEN are the classes and HOW LONG is the program?
The program involves four semesters of training with the first class beginning in the Fall 2006 semester for students starting their Sophomore or Junior year of high school. There are classes both during school and after-school providing flexibility for those students who may have other commitments after school such as sports, etc.
>Why are students enrolling in the TechFutures program?
1. JOBS. TechFutures students may be eligible for paid work using the computer skills they are learning in the program. Over the four years that TechFutures has been operating at El Cerrito and Kennedy High Schools, students have earned over $213,000 working on client projects, internships with companies such as Intel and Autodesk, as teaching assistants, and as computer network administrators.
2. NEW SKILLS. After graduating from the two-year program, students have the skills to work at higher paying jobs than the typical ones available for 17 and 18 year olds.
Let TechFutures Build Your Website!
TechFutures students have designed and developed many outstanding websites for business, non-profits, and public agencies over the past several years. In addition, we have also designed and built customized database applications with front-end integration.
Our instructors, who have many years of industry experience, provide professional project management for each website and database project as well as Desktop/Network Support projects to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy possible.
